Your alarm blares, waking you up at 8:00 a.m. You stretch, get out of bed and walk to the bathroom. One glance in the mirror and, WHAT’S THAT? A new wrinkle? Didn’t you just go to bed as a seventeen-year-old with fresh, smooth skin?
Aging has a habit of sneaking up on the best of us. Wrinkles are a part of life, but that doesn’t mean that you can’t help prolong the longevity of your skin and its collagen production.
Protect and Prevent
First things first,
Knowing what factors attribute to your new little wrinkle friend can help you better prepare to prevent more and help keep the one you have from getting too deep. On top of your skin’s elasticity beginning to slow down with age, make sure you are drinking plenty of water. Dehydration is never your friend.
Sunscreen. We’ve said it before and we will say it again, sunscreen protects your skin from the sun’s harsh UV rays which are more likely to cause those pesky little wrinkles to show up.
Your mother might have told you growing up not to make silly faces or your face might get stuck like that. Well, your face may not be stuck with your nose perpetually tipped up, but when you make certain facial expressions often enough the repetitive facial movement can deepen the wrinkles associated with those muscle groups.
Know your medications. Some might dry your skin out or have other minor adverse side effects that don’t necessarily cause major damage. However, they can attribute to your skin producing more wrinkles over time.
Your overall health can also greatly affect your skin. Things like smoking, which deteriorate your health, will age your skin much more quickly.
Of course, some things are simply genetic (thanks mom and dad). That doesn’t mean you can’t do your best to help prevent and reduce lines by having a good skincare routine, eating healthy, and adding in non-invasive treatments for your wrinkles.
Treat Those Laugh Lines
As great as your daily skincare routine is, lines are still eventually going to show up. That doesn’t mean you have to pull out the grandma sweaters and knitting needles just yet.
Unless, of course, you want to then you knit that amazing sweater! We love to see it.
Luckily, we live in a pretty cool day and age where non-surgical, non-invasive treatments are readily available to help treat those tricky little wrinkles. The best part? These gentle treatments are practically painless and require no downtime. Pop in for 30 minutes and BAM, beautiful, vibrant skin that’s glowing. How cool is that?
What Are My Options?
What are your options? What a great question!
Every clinic might have its variations on treatments, but at Hillside Medical Clinic, we offer two different systems for wrinkles: the TempSure Envi and the Icon Laser. So, you might want to know what they do and what the difference is exactly? We’ve got you!
Simply put, the TempSure Envi uses a radiofrequency system that helps rebuild your collagen to “smooth wrinkles,” and it’s FDA-approved. Pretty cool, right?
The TempSure Icon, on the other hand, uses intense-pulsed-light (IPL) system for fractional skin resurfacing. This system is great for stretch marks, wrinkles, scars and uneven skin textures.
Both of these systems work quickly and leave you with fresh, glowing results immediately. No downtime, nothing to recover from. You pop in for a treatment and leave looking and feeling like Cinderella after her fairy godmother waves her wand.
Everyone’s skin is different so we work with you to create a custom plan specifically for you. On average, people can expect four to six sessions spaced out over a few months.
No matter what way you choose to treat your wrinkles, whether that’s remembering your sunscreen each morning before you leave the house or stopping in for a quick 30-minute session, we’re here to help you feel confident in your own skin.
